About Open Your Heart
Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless was founded in 1986 by employees of the Minnesota Department of Jobs and Training (now known as the Department of Employment and Economic Development).
Open Your Heart is funded by people like you! OYH receives the majority of its donations from individuals making one time or reoccurring donations and from employees giving as part of workplace giving campaigns.
Of course! They are all here.
We leverage your donations to provide grants in 3 essential areas: shelter, food and, education. We target funding to more than 240 food and shelter providers each year for specific, unmet needs such as mattresses, freezers, fresh produce and school supplies for homeless children. Tangible goods like these are vital to serving hungry and homeless people in Minnesota and ensure that food and shelter providers are able to focus their attention on helping more people in need.
Recurring donations, no matter how small, are by far the best way to give to Open Your Heart. This allows us to plan strategically for the future and make the best impact.
You can set-up regular donor-advised contributions on a weekly, monthly, annual, or other periodic basis. Simply choose your frequency in the drop-down menu on the donation form (the default is to make a one-time donation). Please note that you will be required to create a Razoo user account in order to make recurring donations.
See out grant program pages for details and an application.
Yes you can! Just not the same grant. For example: you can apply for a Hunger and Homeless grant and an Education grant, but not two Hunger and Homeless Grants.
