Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless funds Hunger Solutions Minnesota each year. Hunger Solutions Minnesota uses this funding for statewide food distribution.
In addition Open Your Heart funds food banks, on-site feeding programs, and local food shelves across Minnesota. This funding provides for freezers, refrigerators, shelving, and other basics needed to serve people in their communities.
Open Your Heart also provides funding to emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, and supportive housing programs. This grant money is used for beds, mattresses, and other furnishings, as well as items like furnaces, windows, hot water heaters, etc.
Prior to the start of
each school year, Open Your Heart provides Education Grants to shelters and
housing programs that serve children in K-12. This funding provides school
supplies, book bags, school activity fees, and other necessities to help young
people who have no permanent home.
