More than 1,300 men, women and youth experiencing homelessness are expected to come to the St. Paul RiverCentre on June 14 for the fifth annual East Metro Project Homeless Connect event. This “one-stop shop” for services allows people who are homeless to access a wide variety of resources all in one day and in one place, removing many of the obstacles they typically face to receiving services.

Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless is a proud supporter of Project Homeless Connect (PHC) events in both St. Paul and Minneapolis. Our Board of Directors recently approved a grant of $7,500 to pay for essential items at the upcoming East Metro PHC event such as birth certificates, basic dental care and dentures, and security deposits to help people who are homeless get into apartments. Now we hope you will join us in supporting this important event by volunteering your time to make a difference.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed to make this event a success. As a volunteer, you can greet guests, serve lunch or partner with a guest to guide them through the event and help them connect with as many services as they can. A background in social services is not required; just the ability to be on your feet and the willingness to help.
Volunteers are needed from 8am to 4pm on June 14. (Full-day and half-day shifts are available.) Visit East Metro PHC’s website to learn more about this unique opportunity to assist and empower an individual experiencing homelessness. Your time and services will help end homelessness, one person at a time.
