Please join us at our annual fundraiser on Thursday, October 25
from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Christo's Union Depot, 214 Fourth Street
East in St. Paul.
The program begins at 7:00 p.m. and will include recognition of
sponsors and outstanding workplace giving campaigns, as well as
speakers from some of the agencies that Open Your Heart supports. In
addition to the program, you'll be able to enjoy Christo's Greek
appetizers and a cash bar, and listen to the sounds of the Chris
Lomheim Trio. It will be a fun evening.
Tickets for our event are $25 per person if purchased ahead of
time, and $30 per person at the door. Come celebrate another year of
service to hungry and homeless Minnesotans, and help support us in
our important mission going forward. We hope to see you there!

election of six new members to its board of directors.
The new
members are: Neeti Kambale, Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions;
Norma Renville, Women of Nations; Danielle Tessmer; Kelly
Sowards Opot, Headwaters Group Philanthropic Services; Noriko
Gamblin, University of Minnesota Foundation; and Jodi Schoh,
Culligan Soft Water Service Company.
Newly
elected officers include Yoji Shimizu, University of
Minnesota, president; Tonya Brownlow, Our Saviour's Housing,
vice president; Paul Jarvis, Associated Bank, secretary; and
Roger Henry, treasurer.

children was 11.8% in 2006, worse than the 10.1% level during
the 2001 recession. Overall, 8.1% of Minnesotans lived in
poverty in 2005-06, representing no measurable improvement

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week November 11-17,

To raise
awareness of hunger and homelessness nationwide, the National
Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign
Against Hunger and Homelessness team up to co-sponsor National
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The event is a week
before Thanksgiving each year; this year's dates are November
11-17, 2007.
