Volunteers

Volunteers are our organization! They donate their time, talents and treasures to help us carry out our mission of giving where the need is greatest.

Our volunteers serve on the Board of Directors, play an active role in committees and special projects, provide technical and clerical support, raise awareness of Open Your Heart’s work, and much more. In short, our volunteers are ready, willing and eager to dig in and get the job done!

Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless is able to keep its administrative costs low. As a group, our volunteers typically donate more than 2,000 hours each year. Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless volunteers are very much appreciated!

Demos Economacus

Demos Economacos

Demos Economacos is an awesome volunteer! An employee of the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services, Demos provides technical support to Open Your Heart and is participating in the re-design of the Open Your Heart website.

When asked why he volunteers at Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless, Demos says, “Open Your Heart is an organization that gives volunteers and donors a chance to make a difference in the lives of others. What we do, either by direct giving or volunteering, enables hungry and homeless people who are less fortunate to be helped.”

Demos goes on to say, “As a naturalized citizen, volunteering for Open Your Heart provides an avenue for me to give back to a country and community that has done so much for me and for this I am very thankful!”
